Different Animation Formats

Dynamic HTML (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) -

This is used to allow the person to add other effects to whatever they are creating. This can include:
  • Animating text
  • Images
  • Roll over buttons
  • Adding a ‘ticker’ (this automatically refreshes the web page to include new and up-to-date information).

The four main parts of Dynamic HTML are:
  •  Document Object Model
  • Scripts
  • Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
  • XHTML

      Quicktime -

This software can handle various formats of, picture, digital video, sound, panoramic images.

What Can Be Used To Create Animations?

Animation is the display of different images or moulded figures to create an illusion of movement using Persistence of Vison. This is when an image stays in your mind for 0.04 of a second making you think that every picture blends together making an animation.

Used when making films, Persistence of Vision can be used to save money.

Some of the films and TV episodes in which this method has been used are:
  • X-Men
  • Super-8
  • Nike
  • Star Trek
The picture below shows an example of how Persistence of Vison can be used:

Flip Books are books that have slightly different images on each page. When the pages are 'flipped' the images look like they are moving. Flip books can be used when creating an animation because it allows the creator to see what the animation will look like when it is completed.

Below is an example of a flip book:
